What you'll get

• Now and then, a gift idea or an offer. We cap how often any device hears from us, so it stays occasional.
• If you start a gift and don't finish it, a reminder that it's waiting.
• Nothing about the person you're making a gift for. Their name never appears in a notification, so nothing is spoiled if someone else sees your screen.

How it works

Your browser gives us an address at its own push service — Google's, Apple's, Mozilla's or Microsoft's, depending on the browser — and we send each notification there, encrypted so that the service can deliver it but not read it. We keep that address, a rough note of the browser (“Chrome on Android”), when you last visited, and which of your gifts this browser made. Nothing else. See the privacy policy for the details.

Turning notifications off here, or with the “Turn off” button on a notification, stops them straight away. Blocking the site in your browser's settings does too.
